To mark the World TB Day on 24th March 2017, a colourful mass rally was organized by Health & Family Welfare Department, Govt. of Tripura followed by an inaugural discussion programme. Near about 500 participants took part in the event which started at 8.30 AM from SHFWS building complex and had traversed through Colonel Chowmuhani, Bidur Karta, Tulsibati road, Jackson gate, Kaman choumuhani, Paradise to Bidurkarta then back to SIHFW building. The theme for this year is ‘Unite to end TB’.
The Mission Director, NHM, Govt. of Tripura discussed the Importance of observance of World TB Day in the discussion programme. He advised the ASHA workers to motivate TB Patients for availing full course of DOTs treatment. After the short duration programme the Mission Director, NHM., Govt of Tripura flagged off the rally. The Member Secretary, State Health and Family Welfare Society, Agartala also speaks
about the importance of the day. Participants including STO, RNTCP, SPO,RCH, NPCDCS BO,NHM, CMO(West) Programme Officers of different National Disease Control Programmes, Government officials from the department of FW&PM, NHM staffs, ASHA workers from West Tripura & other participants from NGO traversed through the various areas in Agartala, spreading awareness among masses regarding TB control measures. The health workers were carrying placards and banners appealing masses to spreading awareness regarding TB. Miking on importance of TB Control also taken place on the occasion of Word TB Day, 2017, where it is stated that World TB Day, to be observed on 24 March and WHO is calling on countries and partners to "Unite to End Tuberculosis". As we enter the era of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ending tuberculosis (TB) by 2030 is a target of the SDGs and the goal of the WHO End TB Strategy. Tripura has made necessary progress in TB diagnosis and Treatment to plan accordingly for future at the same pace as the global vision of the End TB Strategy.
Other than this Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura has organized an ‘Advocacy on TB Care’ among People Living with HIV AIDS and care and support providers like Health Care Providers, ART Plus Center, ICTC, PPTCT and DOT Centre of Agartala Govt. Medical College and GBP Hospital. To enlightened all the stakeholders and HIV Patients regarding newer concepts of TB, that is in 2017 approach to TB has been changed to daily regimen instead of alternative day regimen and CB NAAT in diagnosis of TB is a newer inclusion in the RNTCP. All the speakers (Faculty members from AGMC) focus on early diagnosis and complete treatment of TB. Importance on TB HIV co-infection was highlighted specifically.
State level Street Drama has also been arranged in various places on TB. One Mobile Publicity Van (Yaksma Control IEC van) decorated with Flex and various messages along with miking (etc) have also been arranged. The Van has moved from West District to rest of the seven districts from 23rd March to 30th March, 2017.
- For observance of World TB Day on 24th March, 2017, other various programmes were also held in district level.
- All the eight districts in Tripura have arranged programmes like Rally, Discussion Programme and Street Drama and for generating more awareness in grass root level discussion in Village Health & Nutrition Day etc. has also been taken place.
