The Sensitization Programme for Teachers on Adolescence Education Programme (AEP) was held in 2 (Two) batches on 12th & 13th January, 2017 at the Training Hall of Tripura State Co-operative Union, A.D. Nagar, Agartala, West Tripura. Total of 86 (Eighty Six) nos. of Teachers from different schools of all 8 (Eight) districts were trained on AEP throughout the State. The aim of the programme is to provide information to teachers on age appropriate information for adolescents on basic of HIV/AIDS, Life Skill Education, STI, and Substance Abuse in order to reduce and prevent the spread of HIV infection among young people.
The Project Director & Assistant Project Director of TSACS has delivered speech on the overview of the programme and its importance to the need of the hour. Thereafter, Assistant Director (IEC), TSACS has taken a session on ‘Basic of HIV/AIDS and its scenario’, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology, MBB College delivered lecture on ‘Exploring Life Skill Education among the Adolescents: Role of the Teachers’ and Assistant Director (Youth Affairs), TSACS has taken a session on the financial part for organizing the programmes in their respective schools and also has shown some jingles and photographs. After the lecture, teachers took part in an interaction & cleared their misconception on issues related to HIV/AIDS e.g ‘mosquito bite cannot spread HIV’, ‘close kiss cannot spread HIV’, ‘sharing cloths cannot spread HIV’ etc. The queries were answered by the speakers. Before starting of the each day programme, the Pre Test & Post Test was taken among the teachers to know the knowledge in regard to HIV/AIDS.
Further, the trained teachers will be act as Nodal Officer for the Adolescence Education programme and will sensitize their students in the respective schools.
