National Programme for Control of Blindness (NPCB)

Chief Minister MISSION DRISHTI Programme :

  • PRESBYOPIA is a common condition related with old age in which the eyes do not adjust to any object kept at short distance due to which the person faces difficulty in seeing objects which are closer.
  • To tackle this problem among old-age persons, Chief Minister MISSION DRISHTI has been approved for distribution of free spectacles to the patients suffering from PRESBYOPIA.
  • As a part of this programme, 1,66,500 spectacles will be procured and distributed totally free of cost to the patients out of which 66,597 No. Spectacles of different powers have already been purchased by NHM.
  • The spectacles will be distributed through the health facilities where the ophthalmic assistance / trained person will check the power required for a patient and will issue the spectacles to the patient.
  • The services will be available at all health facilities till PHC level and at Sub-Centres where Community Health Officer (CHO) is posted.
  • The Ration Card Number of the beneficiary will be collected for entry in beneficiary management system.
  • Chief Minister Mission Dristi Programme is launch by Honorable CM, Govt. of Tripura on 12th March,2021 .

 

Overall Objective :

  • Reducing prevalence and burden of avoidable blindness by 2020 by adopting strategies advocated for Vision 2020: The Right to Sight.

 

Goals and Objective :

  • Providing high quality of eye care services to the affected population.
  • Expanding coverage of eye care services to the underserved areas.
  • Reducing the backlog of blindness by identifying and providing services to the affected population; and
  • Developing institutional capacity for eye care services by providing support for equipment and material and training personnel.
