World population day is an international level awareness campaign celebrated all over the world to call people on stage to know the reason of this exploding population year by year. Like other years this year also World population day was celebrated in Tripura on 11th July, 2017. The aim of the Governing Council of United Nations Development Programme is paying great attention towards the reproductive health problems of the community people as it is leading cause of ill health as well as the death of the pregnant women.

On the occasion of World population day Population Mobilization Fortnight (27th June 2017- 10th July, 2017) was observed throughout the state. Through Population Mobilization Fortnight, people are encouraged to take part in the event to know about population issues like importance of family planning, gender equality, maternal and baby health, poverty, human rights, right to health, sexuality education, use of contraceptives and safety measures like condoms, reproductive health, adolescent pregnancy, girl child Education, child marriage, sexually transmitted infections and so many.

Accordingly Tripura Sundari SDH has counselled the beneficiaries and five eligible couples have agreed to accept the service. Four beneficiaries from Tulamura and Garjee PHC and one from Atharobhola PHC areas have joined the camp to receive the vasectomy method, informed Durbanjali Roy, Assistant Hospital Administrator who is the camp manager of the Hospital. Each beneficiary is entitled Rs 1100. Next NSV Camp of the District will be held on 21st July at District Hospital of Gomati, informed official from District Chief Medical Officer Office. On the occasion of celebration of World Population Mobilization Fortnight, a NSV Camp was held recently at Gomati District Hospital. Ten personnel have received the vasectomy service for participating in the process of population stabilization.Dr. Dhrubha Banik, a prominent surgeon of IGM Hospital along with team members of OT of District Hospital has provided the services. In this context, massive campaign has been going on the District during the Fortnight to counsel and facilitate eligible couples to choose the perfect methods of family planning. Awareness is also being done through different TV channels.
